Ted, as far as sites go, tomorrow I am going out to check out a few sites, from what I have been told and what I know about the areas I'm going to it will be very exciting for the club come spring!!! as it is we are a week away from winter! Yes I would like to hit some Chicago parks, Castaway aka GOIO aka Greg could help us there! he works at the site of the old stockyards! we could go with 6 or 7 guys, 3 can lay down supression fire while 4 swing!LOL and for the areas I'm goin to check out just keep your britches on! I'm scouting them for our club group hunts, I have to take photos so I can review them with my administrators.

Eddie I picked up a couple sites also. While hunting Willow slough, I found a long ago foundation and a root celler. Also in southern Indiana there is about a block long section of the old eire cannel. I,ve been there it is in a remote area no one around.

Willow and Erie would have to be hunted early in the year because of the heavy underbrush

My motto: ( It's better to beg forgivenuss, then ask permission)

Sounds great!!!!! My father was big in the hobby in the early 70's. He remembers some great Chicago parks but says even then they were in seedy neighborhoods. Lots of silver and jewelry made their way into his collection from those parks. That is OK with me because they probably haven't been hunted out. Several of us and we should have no problems. I would like to bring the old man and his whites 66tr (lol). Also, I'm not sure if he is a member yet but Larry from NWIdetectors.com is a great guy. He would be a welcomed accomplice in my mind. Another good tip to anyone in the region is the old Gary schools. I hit a few of them this fall and hard the distinct sound of silver coins clicking in my pouch as I walked back to the pickup. Can't wait for the thaw!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah Ted! just click on the members tab at the top! Larry is with the club, he is one of my administrators! NWIdetectors is also linked on our main page, if you scroll down past the weather and stuff you will see the banner with the link, just click on the link and you will be redirected to his site! He has great deals for our members, just ask Larry! Yes your Dad is welcome to come on hunts if he wants as he is welcome to join the club, if he is not big on the computer you can sign him up for him! now bring on the flame throwers so we can hurry up the thaw!!! Do you ever use your expertise with the metal detector in your line of work as a Police Officer to locate bullets and the like?

I was asked to use my detector twice in 16 years. Once for some shell casings and another for a hammer that was used in a murder. Found two casings the first time and found the hammer for the second call out. Took pictures of that one. Would like to send them to White's but the case isnt closed yet. Will wait on that. CANT WAIT TILL THE THAW!!!!!!!! Good time for research though. Already have some good leads.

Excellent! if you were to go out now your detector will find it but then you would need a door knob hole saw and drill to cut your plug!LOL yeah it might be a good idea for you to wait on the hammer! a hammer that had to hurt like hell before they expired! a hell of a way to go ouch!!!! unlike the shell casings bullet wounds burn like hell!!!

Be careful on the lakeshore, the National Park owns the shoreline and an unknown distance from the waters edge. The park rangers will strictly enforce their laws and take your detectors so be careful. Outside of that have fun and take a gun, I work this area from time to time on fires and it can be very questionable at times.
