Thank-you, Ken. I didn't make it up to the Dunes today, but I am seriously thinking about coming up for the hunt on Saturday. I am not that familiar with the area...is Whiting/Wahala beach close to the Illinois state line? I'll have to look it up....

David, I believe you can hunt the beach after Laborday. You have to go to the office and sign in. They will give you a list of the rules (very short) and you have to keep them with you while you hunt.Its not a very large area to hunt but you can w...

About Me:
I'm a newbie to Metal Detecting. I live in Marion, IN. I am married with two teenage boys. Picked up a Pioneer 202 a few weeks ago on a whim at the local pawn shop, and luckily it seems to work well. I'm very green at this. Reading lots (Internet Sites & books) on MD. I've been out maybe a dozen times so far, have found a few coins (nothing big) and lots of pull tabs & junk.
