I want to thank everyone that came out Sunday for the hunt. The weather was great and we did manage some good finds. Member Dave Ward took some video of the hunt for everyone to enjoy, I can't wait to see how it turned out. We found silver , India...

I would like to share some of my detecting locations, if anyone is interested.
I hunt with a mxt, I use my 6 inch dd coil most of the time. I like to hunt parks ,schools and beaches. Some of the places I hunt.
washington park , university of chicago
old kkk fair ground
calumet park
mann park
79th st beach, 63rd st etc.
IF you would like to hunt or just talk detectors,(I have used alot of differant makes and models since 1972) let me know.
I have hunted underwater , shallow water and dry lan… Continue

- Thanks for the welcome Ben. I would have responded a bit sooner, but we just had Drill this past weekend. (We had to go to Marseilles, IL for Weapons Qualification, so the whole Company was gone all weekend). I believe I can do a bit of detecting this upcoming weekend coming up. Sunday would be best for me. You can email me or I can certainly look up your number. The wife and myself go to the Family USA Restaurant out your way. We also go out to Manteno quite a bit too.
As far as "detecting" goes, I'm using the 9.5" coil that came with the detector. I feel that I may need a smaller coil though-for areas like the Will Co. Fairgrounds, the local schools, etc. As an average, with the Whites XLT, are the silver coins usually found deeper than clad coins? The "wheat pennies" I found seemed to be maybe 4"-5" deep. I've found plenty of clad, so, as I said before, I don't think that I'm too far off. I've been using the coin/jewelry program mainly. Thanks again for the welcome Ben!

- Just got your comment Ben and thanks! Id love to talk detecting, their is so much I need to learn, and it sounds like you have plenty of exsperiance. I got my first detector March of this year, but after I have used it for a while, Im realizing issues with it such as fifty cent piece readings being iron or a big piece of alluminum. My prism 4 is a ready set go and is good for parks and clean areas, but it is not good for heavy trash areas and gives false readings. I do plan on looking into getting the dfx in the future or maybe the mxt because I heard they are great machines also. Do you have any imput for me, Thanks and hope to hear from you soon! Erik
