No problem Johnny, welcome!
I dont know much about Garret detectors, Im pretty new at detecting myself. I started detecting about March or April of this year, I use a whites prism IV, it is light weight about three pounds and is simple to use. It cost me $400. and is a great and lightweight machine. As far as advise on detecting, the best places I have had luck is old propertys, but you never know what your going to find wherever you look. Myself personally, I tell people what my hobby is while showing them some of my finds, usually they will start rattleing off I know a place you should try or I have a place you can try, but if they dont, ask them if they know of any. Research your area around you , know what went on back when and where! If your into the modern clad and jewlary, parks, beaches, public places are the way to go. A lot of those places have been searched over but everything is never found and more is dropped over time. All the pics I posted recently, that took me about 5 differnt days to find in the same area at a 1800's sight never detected, about 5 to 7 hors each time I hunted.
Well, good luck with the hunt! And If you have a bookstore in town like barns and nobels or borders, check out the magazine section for treasure hunting magizines, I buy both issues every month at 5.00 each, they tell storys and give a lot of helpfull information.
Well, keep us posted on the hunt and good luck!
Welcome Johnny,
If you have any questions about detecting, just ask, Iam sure one of the members can answer it. If there is anything I can heip you with, let me know.
